Ruins of Nakijin Castle

Nakijin Castle Ruins is a historical gusuku located on Motobu Peninsula in the northern part of Okinawa's main island.
The World Heritage-listed gusuku is about an hour and a half drive from Naha City, the capital of Okinawa Prefecture.

The history of Nakijin Castle Ruins is old, dating back to the 13th century.
Surrounded by solid walls, the castle was located at an altitude of about 100 meters and was a key castle for protecting the Yanbaru region.

After it was destroyed by the Zhongshan Army during the Panzangchi period, guards were sent to the area, and after the last guard left in 1665, the area was left as a place to hold festivals.
